  1. MSNBCannibals will be forced to pay reparations to the American people for duping them with FAKE NEWS since day one of their lying existence for MASS CONSUMER FRAUD!!!!!!

  2. Bernie wants a 16 trillion dollar climate plan but doesn't support black American descendants of slaves, getting what was owed to their ancestors. Bernie is starting to look like a major hypocrite to me. Sorry but not sorry.

  3. Black Americans built this country for FREE and in my Opinion, that is unacceptable and should be made right with reparations.

  4. I want a reparation because my great great great grandfather was abused a child laborer during the Industrial Revolution. Wah!!

  5. Dems must live for dissapointment. You would think after their record setting losing streak they might realize they might have a mental disorder
    TDS is a terrible affliction.

  6. THE RIGHT WING CORPORATE STOOGES IN CONgress REFUSE TO ALLOW THE DEMOCRAT's TO SECURE OUR VOTING SYSTEM! WHY BECAUSE THEY WAN'T TO BE ABLE TO STEAL THE 2020 ELECTION THE SAME WAY THEY STOLE THE 2016 ELECTION!!!

  7. For the time being we should put the issue of race on the back burner and FOCUS ON TAKING TRUMP OUT OF OUR HOUSE then we take up those issues we need to. Please.

  8. The topic of reparations: "Specifically I think that the descendants of slave owners should be compensated for all the money that they paid for black slaves. Years ago you could buy a black slaves for the price that you would pay for a tractor these days. They were a very expensive item and the white owners have never been properly compensated —– reparations must be paid! " __ Trump

  9. What about the Republicans who died in the Civil War fighting to free slaves? Where's the reparations for those families?

  10. Thanks again Ari, for introducing me to someone whom I may never have had the chance to hear about. Prof. Hamilton is an erudite gentleman who has taught me more about the reparations subject in this interview than I had heard of in my entire adult life and 9yrs of university. I'm going to learn more about it now that I know where to start. Thank you Professor Hamilton and Ari Melber from NW Washington State! 🙏 Namaste

  11. call into question geography in that chart and why the comparison is so extreme. Ari needs to be smarter about this. the average white person has $170000 in wealth is bogus. include debts, geography, etc…

  12. Ummm, how about laser focusing on getting STATEHOOD for both D.C. and Puerto Rico in the first week of the Dem President, House and Senate!! Just need simple majorities and a signature then DONE! 4 DEM Senators, 7-8 DEM REPS and a justification for adding 2 SCOTUS seats right away!! Reparations wont get done because NO ONE agrees what it should look like!! FOCUS!!!

  13. Giving people money for what was done to past generations just gives the rich more money to steal through unfair capitalist rules that let them gouge every penny from us and leave us in debt to the rich. We need to deal with a system rigged for the rich against ALL people of color and even poor whites. Slavery was a horrible atrocity, but the only way to get "justice" is to change laws that are keeping people in poverty, jail, and undereducated NOW. Native Americans and Hispanics have also suffered horribly and ARE CURRENTLY suffering at the hands of bigots in power. All other ethnic and religious minorities and immigrants are also suffering but are not represented in the media. As bad as slavery was, we have work together to fix a crooked system that keeps us ALL as INDENTURED SERVANTS to the rich! Forcing reparations as a payout to one group divides us, ignores the current reality and DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEMS THAT ARE KEEPING US HERE.

  14. Sensitive topic because there are a bunch of trolls. I'm a senior white lady. The amount people are paid makes all the difference in the world. I remember working as a car hop in 1963. There was a loophole in the minimum wage act at the time so I was only paid 50 cents an hour and had to share a bed with a girlfriend. A few years ago, a black lady I was volunteering with told me stories about sharecropping in Texas as a child for 5 cents a week. From 1965-1967, I paid health and disability claims for a major insurance company. The employees would remain in jobs that they hated just to keep their health insurance benefits and not be disqualified under the pre-existing condition stipulation. Unfortunately, many times the employers had not kept up with the jump in medical costs and employees were still left with enormous bills after the insurance was paid. I spent my career endorsing the VA and HMOs. I always believed that the Federal government should come up with a National Health Care Plan like all the other civilized countries of the world. I'm afraid that we have not been diligent enough about following our money. I think that some of these Senators have diverted our funds into their personal pockets.

  16. I want reparations for the money I gave to black people for these defective slaves that don't even work anymore.

  17. Dumpy Trump sat on his Mexican wall,
Dumpy Trump made the NASDAC fall,
All of Putin's forces and his MAGA Cult,
Couldn't get Dumpy Trump elected President again.

  18. Why not just tax the rich and the corporations, and stop using 53% of the GDP on the military then they can afford to help rebuild the poor areas of America for all poor and disadvantaged Americans, green energy jobs are clearly the way forward and training needs to be given to the younger generation who have fallen through the cracks, give incentives to companies to train and employ kids who have basic education, not everyone is suited to university level education, better schools would help, these are the things that would help fix America, also a clean water act for all Americans, as it's something that needs to be addressed urgently.

  19. Interesting to note that when slavery was abolished the group of people who got reparations were…………white slave owners! To compensate them for the loss of their free labour. So if you think about that, reparations to black people is only about 160 years overdue.

  20. Black Americans enjoy a higher level of prosperity than anywhere in Africa. You're welcome. Your reparations check got lost in the mail.

  21. The idea of the right to work goes back further than roosevelt. Certainly sold, desired by some as idea from french revolution, possibly idea before. It is part of UN charter, but ignored like everything else, all laws. When gets down to it, no democrat, republican or any euro truly believes in right to work, look at workplace mobbing or human rights, respect for laws…anything & you just get a lot of fake solutions cuz vast majority wont spend anytime reading to understand, determine what real solutions should be. The average persons conversations are petty & stupid. If dont care about solutions, they dont care about the problems, so spend no time educating self, so who else should bother. So they dont but still need put on act need vote. One day, being so disengaged, passive openly the right to vote like rest constitution wont exist. Eurosjews sick & tired of having to work to convince, appease, come down from castle look at conditions of slaves. They dont want to do it. They dont even desire a sys that allows for change or the thought of it to enter the mind, making their situation insecure. All acts they do are always to secure themselves so easy to know moves to make. danihendricks70 twitter; Books: Disintegration &the NWO; Autobiography of Targeted Individual

  22. Reparations are exactly what the GOP NEEDS from the DNC. It would be a MONUMENTAL act of self-sabotage. Nothing to do with the morality of it. It’s a none-starter, electorally, to put it centrally in ones campaign. But, if you’re willing to LEAD the people, against their will, WHY not have the BALLS to IMPEACH, and show the people why THAT is necessary? Reparations should be done; but, done QUIETLY

  23. Straight up cash repiration is a stupid idea, maybe I don't understand the proposal, but there is no denying this guy seems to be one of the nicest guys in the world.

  24. All job applicants should be interviewed like on The Voice. Either blindfolded or with their backs to the candidates. That would give a better chance for the right applicant to get the job regardless of what they looked like.

  25. Reparations? To whom and for what? There are no black folks alive whom were ever slaves. Where will the money come from? Me? You? The working class?

  26. Absolutely NOT!!!
Reparations may be fair in certain circumstances but not this. It's abject nonsense.
    We are where we are.
Reparations have been given in aid anyway…one can argue!
Do you want to bankrupt a country because of this madness?
I have no guilt. Why should I, unless you want to say all descendents are guilty to the end of time.
This is racist. I presume these people for want to target all of the (white?) UK population or all of the UK, black people too..stupid idea!!
Most of the population of a country associated with the slave trade lived effectively as slaves themselves. No rights, virtually no pay a dreadful life. Do I want reparations from the descendants of the upper class? NO!
I will not be fined along with everyone else in the UK for the alleged sins of a sub group of the UK population 100 years before I was born.
Stand on your own two feet get on with your life, opportunities today are fantastic if you apply yourself. Stop whinging and wasting your energy on this dumb insane idea.

  27. Fun fact, there are more total white people suffering from abject poverty than blacks or even all people of color. All talking reparations is going to do is get Trump re-elected, especially since his base is those poor white people who would be left out of that conversation.

  28. My family fought in the Revolution and didn't own slaves. They also fought for the Union. I'm not paying reparations.

  29. A quick lookup of "slavery in Africa" reveals that slavery existed on that continent for hundreds of years before the evil white folks showed up to buy some. Black Africans themselves were raping pillaging and brutalising their fellow human beings and selling them to other Africans as slaves long before European traders became their customers! Slavery still goes on today in Africa and India but the diasporic peoples never talk about it for some reason…
When is the acknowledgement never mind an apology for black participation in and personal gain from the slave trade going to come? Or are today's white only descendants supposed to take all the blame, shame and guilt? It was white people after all who campaigned and ended hundreds of years of this practice in their own countries.

  30. Reparations is not just for slavery it is restitution for ills that occured during slavery, reconstruction, jim crow, and beyond. It is financial obligations that are owed not different than restitution to survivors and descendants of the Holocaust, Native American tribes, and Japanese internment camps.

  31. People are hesitant to accept jobs that are low-paying, part time, and without insurance!!! If you do, you are apt to have 2 or 3 of these jobs!!! Not that someone like that would know. 😡

  32. Yes, let's segregate the nation again into black and white. Let's have some "scientists" determine who is black enough to receive reparations and who is Caucasian, Hispanic or Asian enough to pay for it. Makes sense: Obama (white Mom) has to pay himself (black Dad) reparations. Or not? As his Dad had no US heritage…

  33. How about instead of reparations we do health care for all and a better social security system for retirement, things that would benefit the most people. We do need to make sure that the tragedies of the past are never repeated, but we also can't hurt our future by looking back all the time.

  34. How about reversing the Tax cuts trump distributed to the most wealthy, including himself and his children, driving our debt up to a TRILLION Dollars.

  35. racist reparations will only create greater feelings of racial favoritism, drowned our government in debt, and create an even greater wealth gap due to inflation. a UBI based on federal and state ownership of fed exchange and too big to fail businesses and banks. there are plenty of jobs out there. some people just think these jobs are below them.
trump has gone a long way toward dismantling this government, this idea is just another nail in the coffin.

  36. People in comments don't understand how we got where we are. One talks about cont. to look back. No, systemic economic deprivation runs deeper than they know and they are current. Another talks about aid already given. Another myth. People repeat talking points and have no idea how we come to this place and how it continues in more modern day methodologies. Reparations won't bankrupt the govt. no more than the military budget and corporate welfare.

  37. Reparations doesn't excite me. We can't afford it right now. This is a topic to be discussed later. Right now, our economy is getting in trouble. Our dept is bordering a trillion dollars. Besides, the heirs of the fortunes made by slavery is the true criminal behavior and it is they that should pay these bills. Not the rest of us. I'm not a hater, racist or republican. I see this proposal as something that will add to the deficit. Where is this money AND all of the other stuff also requiring massive funds come from? These expenditures need be put on hold for now. Watch some one will call me a racist.

  38. I can’t be the only black person that thinks reparations is insulting. Buying votes with tax dollars is not a new concept but come on now. These politicians think black folks can’t make their way in this world without government handouts?

  39. Actually we need Blacks to start paying us back. Section 8, Food Stamps, Free Healthcare, Free Phones Affirmative action.

  40. This should also be about Native Americans the very first slaves of this country!! We are still enslaved and not even considered! My Grandmother worked the field but since she was light-skinned she had heat stroke so bad she became a house slave. My Grandfather who was born free living on the plains and our relatives worked the fields. They were all brought into slavery. Why are we less important and FORGOTTEN!!

  41. So….What about the 10,200 free black men that owned black slaves in 1860? Do blacks have to pay black backs?

     https://americancivilwar.com/authors/black_slaveowners.htm

-In 1860 only a small minority of whites owned slaves. According to the U.S. census report for that last year before the Civil War, there were nearly 27 million whites in the country. Some eight million of them lived in the slaveholding states.

-The census also determined that there were fewer than 385,000 individuals who owned slaves (1). Even IF all slaveholders had been white, that would amount to only 1.4 percent of whites in the country (or 4.8 percent of southern whites owning one or more slaves). -According to federal census reports, on June 1, 1860 there were nearly 4.5 million Negroes in the United States, with fewer than four million of them living in the southern slaveholding states. Of the blacks residing in the South, 261,988 were not slaves. Of this number, 10,689 lived in New Orleans. The country's leading African American historian, Duke University professor John Hope Franklin, records that in New Orleans over 3,000 free Negroes owned slaves, or 28 percent of the free Negroes in that city.

-To return to the census figures quoted above, this 28 percent is certainly impressive when compared to less than 1.4 percent of all American whites and less than 4.8 percent of southern whites. The statistics show that, when free, blacks disproportionately became slave masters.

-The majority of slaveholders, white and black, owned only one to five slaves. More often than not, and contrary to a century and a half of bullwhips-on-tortured-backs propaganda, black and white masters worked and ate alongside their charges; be it in house, field or workshop. The few individuals who owned 50 or more slaves were confined to the top one percent, and have been defined as slave magnates.

-Black Confederates and Afro-Yankees in Civil War Virginia (University Press of Virginia-1995) was written by Ervin L. Jordan Jr., an African-American and assistant professor and associate curator of the Special Collections Department, University of Virginia library. He wrote: "One of the more curious aspects of the free black existence in Virginia was their ownership of slaves. Black slave masters owned members of their family and freed them in their wills. Free blacks were encouraged to sell themselves into slavery and had the right to choose their owner through a lengthy court procedure."

  42. black people need more than affirmative action. we need some white people's money. pay out reparation to ados. $100,000 per black person. total 1.3 T dollars will be the bill. that's only $8,000 per white person. get my vote…guarantee.

  43. Yes the Pro slavery, pro segregation, Jim Crowe law, KKK founding Democrat party needs to pay reparations. Every registered Democrat needs to pay for their party’s past genocide and violation of civil rights. I propose each registered Democrat pay $10,000 into a national reparations fund.

  44. you should probably wait until after 2020 to polarize the electorate by singling out blacks for special treatment.
oh, right. reparations is a terrible idea, by the way. youre gonna find that just blindly handing money to people and then washing your hands of the whole situation is actually a stupid plan, thought of by stupid people. its not that easy. the only thing thats that easy is coming up with ideas that are that stupid.
how bout we just build the best schools in the poorest neighborhoods, and build a lot of em. it cheaper that way, and much less stupid that way. and probably easier to actually do.

  45. No tangibles for reparations=No Vote. It doesn't matter who knows or doesn't know what it looks like. Who thinks or doesn't think it's owed. Bernie wants $14 trillion for the green deal, but he has to get elected first.

  46. I am 40% African, will I get 40% of these repatriations? I am worried as I am also 42% Caucasian. Will I need to pay 42% and get 40%? Further, as a Republican, my party ended slavery in this country. Shouldn’t only democrats pay these reparations, as they fought to keep enslaving my people? I am 100% against dividing our country by race. The left is 100% wanting to buy votes and for keeping people dependent upon their handouts. Our President never mentions race in any policy, but points out that his policies are helping all Americans’ employment and pay. Government should only give me a fair open opportunity as our existing laws provide today and get out of my way.

  47. Here is a mandatory step to repay us…A fair quality education was denied us…the people who enriched and built the nation…immediately set up private schools so our children can have their precolonial history tought to them and have counselors to help them. That is the beginning of true restitutuon … Even here in Marin California the school board siphoned money from black schools to enrich the charter schools…in 2019.
We also need protected status to protect us from further terror and exploitation…

  48. I'm fine with reparations as long as they go to people who were actually enslaved in America. How many 170 year olds are still alive? Although, seeing white descendents of slaves getting reparation money would be hilarious.

  49. The Faux News commentary that stated that it's not the gov't roll to do a gov't job guarantee. Well if you look at history, it was the United States gov't that sanctioned racial terrorism that caused the destruction of so-called Black Wealth such as towns, homes and businesses. So the United States is totally responsible for paying "Reparations" to the fullest.

  50. THESE DEMOCRATS WON'T GET ONE WHITE VOTE IF THEY TELL WHITE PEOPLE WILL HAVE TO PAY UP FOR THE ADOS SOME MONEY. THEY WILL GET 100% OF THE BLACK VOTE, BUT THAT'S ONLY 13%. SOME POOR WHITE GUY WILL JOIN THE KKK TO SEE THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN. DEMOCRATS ARE SUPPOSE TO BRING THE COUNTRY TOGETHER. THIS IS GOING TO DIVIDE THE COUNTRY. TRUMP WILL SURELY WIN.

  51. What about reparations for the Asians that built the railroad? Or is it just Africans that were brought here? Irish and Scottish people were slaves also… are they ignored in these reparations as well?
