S. Korea’s National Assembly kicks off annual audit of government bodies

South Korea’s National Assembly has
started its annual audit of government ministries and their affiliated agencies
for the next 20 days 14 parliamentary committees will inspect a 788 government
bodies three other committees including the house steering committee will begin
their audits on October 23rd this year’s audit is expected to be
especially contentious since that will be the last under the 20th National
Assembly and it comes ahead of next year’s general elections today dozens of
government organizations including the supreme court and the ministries of
Foreign Affairs Defense Education and science are in the hot seat arrival
parties have already started grilling officials over the corruption and fraud
allegations surrounding justice minister cho gook and his family progress on
denuclearization talks between North Korea and the US as well as South
Korea’s trade spat with Japan
